Forrest: An opportunity to bounce back

26 April 2024

Alan Forrest believes Saturday’s trip to Rugby Park provides a good opportunity for the men in maroon to get back to winning ways following last weekend’s Scottish Cup defeat to Rangers.

Three points in Ayrshire will secure third spot for the Jambos, but the midfielder admits it will not be an easy game against a Kilmarnock side, who themselves have a lot at stake as they look to strengthen their grip in 4th spot.

Speaking to the media at the pre-match press conference, Forrest said:

“We want to get the result tomorrow, but we know it’s not going to be easy. Killie have been really good all season, so they’ll put up a good fight, but it’s a good one for us to bounce back from last weekend.

“We know it’s in our hands, if we can get the win, we get third place tied up, so it’s one we’re ready for and we’ll be looking to take the three points.

“You look through their team, they have that threat from wide areas and the two strikers are a handful. They’ve shown that their league position is not just luck, people at the start of the season might’ve expected them to fade away, but they’ve been consistent, and they’ve put up a fight to still be challenging for third place.

“They’ve got really good players, so we’re going to need to be ready, but we’ve managed to go there and win twice this season, so we know what it takes to win there, but it’s not going to be easy.

“For me, it’s been a really good season. To play and contribute quite a lot has been really good, but it would be even better if we managed to get the win tomorrow and get third place again, it would be a really good way to top off the season for everyone.”
