Former St Johnstone striker Steven signed a pre-contract with the Jambos in May 2018 and moved to Tynecastle on a two-year deal.
Steven brings a wealth of experience to the striking department, having plied his trade both sides of the border.
He began his professional career with Rangers before enjoying a 25-goal loan spell at Scunthorpe United in 2003. That convinced Sheffield Wednesday to pay an undisclosed fee for his services and he would go on to score 35 goals for the Owls, as well as slotting home a penalty in their 2005 4-2 League One Play-off Final win over Hartlepool United at the Millennium Stadium.
A season at Cardiff City followed, as did a £500,000 move to Plymouth Argyle. He returned north of the border in 2012 to sign for St Johnstone and was an instrumental figure in helping the Perth Saints to clinch top six finishes for five consecutive seasons.
Steven wrote his name into Perth folklore with the second goal in St Johnstone’s 2014 Scottish Cup triumph, beating Dundee United 2-0 in the Celtic Park Final to lift the trophy for the first time in the club’s history.
The veteran striker made 35 appearances in his debut season at the club, deputising when the club was hit by an injury crisis to their forwards. He scored 7 goals in total, scoring on his debut against Cove Rangers in July 2018.
