Ryan wrote his name in the history books by scoring the opening goal of the 2019 Scottish Cup Final.
Unfortunately, Celtic went on to win the match but it marked a fantastic turnaround for the Australian in his Hearts career.
The 24-year-old midfielder moved to Tynecastle as a free agent after leaving Partick Thistle at the end of the 2017/18 season.
He began his career at the Australian Institute of Sport before joining Reading in 2012. A loan move to Perth Glory followed before he made the switch to Partick Thistle where he quickly established himself as a first team regular.
The Australian spent three seasons at Firhill, scoring 8 goals in 108 senior appearances for the Jags. Ryan also has also made numerous appearances for Australia at both U20 and U23 level.
After spending the first-half of the season on loan at St Mirren, Ryan returned in January to fight for his place in Craig Levein's squad. He made his debut in April during the Edinburgh Derby, making a further three appearances in the league.
He then went on to start the Scottish Cup Final against Celtic and put Hearts ahead with a close-range finish in the 52nd minute. After the match, manager Craig Levein said of Ryan: "He’s a really good example to any young player, or any footballer.
"He was on loan at St Mirren, came back and couldn’t get in the team, played reserve football but never, ever, let his standards drop in any matches he played in or in training and that enabled him to get back into the team."
