Hearts U20s ran out 1-0 winners away to Motherwell U20s last night.
The Wee Jambos won the Development League encounter thanks to Robbie Muirhead’s first-half strike.
Jon Daly was able to call on the experience of Viktor Noring, Alim Ozturk, Krystian Nowak and Juwon Oshaniwa, as well as match-winner Muirhead.
Hearts had Noring to thank for keeping the scores level after only eight minutes when the hosts were awarded a penalty, after Leon Jones was judged to hauled David Ferguson to the ground at a corner. Dylan Mackin took the spot kick, only to see Noring make a comfortable save to his left.
The young maroons made the breakthrough in the 37th minute after Muirhead got on the end of Ozturk’s long ball to spring the Motherwell defence and slot home beyond Jordan Pettigrew in goal.
Muirhead was Hearts’ dangerman and was denied by a fantastic fingertip save from Pettigrew before the half was out, while at the other end Noring made a string of decent saves.
Next up for the Wee Jambos is a home match against St Mirren on Monday, November 14th.
