Wee Jambos edged out by Perth Saints

16th February 2016

Ally Roy strike not enough as Hearts U20s are beaten 2-1 by St Johnstone.

Hearts U20s lost 2-1 against St Johnstone U20s last night.

The Saints built up a two-goal lead at the Excelsior Stadium before Ally Roy pulled a late goal back for the Wee Jambos, but Jon Daly’s side couldn’t grab an equalizer.

Jack Hamilton was again the only overage player in the Hearts side as they looked to build on last week’s impressive win against Inverness CT.

Despite a good first-half showing, Hearts fell behind to a quickfire Craig Thomson brace, scoring twice in 56 and 62 minutes.

Ian Smith went close for the Wee Jambos late on, denied by a brilliant Jordan Millar save, while Roy halved the deficit with an angled shot in the 86th minute.

Next up for the U20s is the Little Big Shot Youth Cup quarter-final tie against Queen of the South on Monday, 22nd February. Kick-off is 7.30pm at ochilview.
