Craig Levein declared himself delighted with his team’s performance against Aberdeen as goals from Steven Naismith and David Milinkovic sealed the three points for the Jambos.
Hearts stunned the visitors with two goals in as many first half minutes. Naismith opened the scoring with a composed finish before Milinkovic doubled the lead a minute later.
The Jambos' ruthlessness in front of goal was accompanied by a solid defensive display that helped extend the unbeaten run at Tynecastle to 14 games. Speaking to the press after the match, Craig said:
“I was really pleased with that performance. I always feel we’ve got a good chance of winning at home,” said Craig.
“It was quite a strong performance and a fairly emphatic win against a good Aberdeen side. We were worthy winners.
“I was really pleased with the composure in possession. The pitch is getting better and it was quite slick today.
“At times I’ve bemoaned our unwillingness to take the ball under pressure but that wasn’t the case today. We were really good at that, particularly in midfield.”
Finally, Craig made a point of praising both goalscores, as well as the Skipper.
“Steven’s a good player and when he gets into those positions I feel quite comfortable that he’ll score. Likewise, David’s always a threat and it was good to have him back today.
“As for Christophe, he’s the best centre back in the league. He does the same thing week in, week out. His performance drop-off is half a percent, which is amazing.
“His consistency helps everybody in the team. He’s been fantastic this season, he really has.”
