Ian Cathro insists he and is players welcome the pressure associated with Sunday’s Edinburgh Derby and believes it only adds to the excitement.
The Jambos go head-to-head with Hibs in the William Hill Scottish Cup 5th Round this Sunday lunchtime and the Head Coach admits he can’t wait to soak up the atmosphere at a sold out Tynecastle.
“The build up is different, the feeling in the stadium is different. It’s a special game and we appreciate that,” Ian explained.
“We need to make sure we feed off the energy in the stadium and make sure the players give the fans reason to raise the noise levels. We need to play football and make the right decisions.
“I want pressure, I want players here who want pressure. We want these days, these big moments and we look forward to being tasked and stepping up to deliver.
“It’s something that excites all of us. We feel how the fans feel and how important this game is. It’s not something we will hide away from. Our job is to win the game for the fans.”
Hearts go into Sunday’s match on the back of two impressive league victories against Rangers and Motherwell, scoring seven goals in the process. The Head Coach will also be boosted by the return of Africa Cup of Nations winner Arnaud Djoum.
“Arnaud will be joining us soon, he’s had a few celebrations to take care of but we look forward to welcoming him back.
“It’s a tremendous achievement (winning the Africa Cup of Nations). The way the competition panned out is testament to his character. He wasn’t in the team to start with but he’s obviously shown his strengths and found himself playing in all of the knock-out stage games.”
