Don Cowie heaped praise on his teammates as Hearts recorded their first league win of the season against Inverness CT on Saturday.
The midfielder was in imperious form, netting his first goals for the club and providing two assists in a superb individual display that earned him the man-of-the-match award from the match day sponsors.
And after the game, Don insisted the players knew it was only a matter of time before performances turned into results as he singled out the team’s attacking talent for acclaim.
“This result was coming,” he said. “The return in our first three games wasn’t great but the performances were good.
“So we said before the game it was important we had three points to show for it. You can see the quality we have got going forward.”
Predicting even better results to come once the team get to know each other better, the captain for the day pointed to the potential of the team as the main selling point of the club when he joined back in January.
“We are all getting to know each other better and we’re getting fitter each week. The future looks good. The reason I came here was because I could see how exciting the future was.
“We’ve added Tony, Conor, Perry, Bjorn to the side and it’s all gelling nicely. I can see why people want to see points on the board early. But I think we showed, on our day we are going to be a strong team.”
Finally, Cowie took the time to praise Robbie Neilson and insisted that the only way was up with the head coach in charge of things at Tynecastle.
"I'm there every day, I see it, and I know who the manager is - and he's fantastic.
"He's still young, too. You can see what he has achieved in two years, and it can only get better."
