Conor Washington won his 21st cap for Northern Ireland last night as they fell to a 2-0 defeat to Germany.
The Hearts striker played 83 minutes of the Euro 2020 Qualifier at Windsor Park but couldn’t fire Michael O’Neill’s side to victory, with Marcel Halstenberg and Serge Gnabry goals handing the visitors the win.
Northern Ireland sit second in Group D, level on points with the Germans and three points ahead of the Netherlands.
They resume their qualifying campaign in October against the Netherlands in Rotterdam.
Meanwhile, three Hearts players could be involved for their national sides this evening.
Glenn Whelan’s Republic of Ireland face Bulgaria in a friendly match, Bobby Burns’ Northern Ireland U21s take on Finland in a U21 Euro 2019 Qualifier while Alex Petkov could feature for Bulgaria U21s in their qualifier against Russia.
