Uche Ikpeazu wants Hearts to use yesterday’s Edinburgh derby win as a springboard for the rest of the season.
The big striker set the Jambos on their way to victory at Easter Road with the equalising goal, before teeing up 17-year-old Aaron Hickey to blast a memorable winner.
Uche’s goal was his second on the bounce in the other half of the city, and the imposing frontman was delighted with the way the team cut out the errors to bag all three points.
“We just wanted the win but to win against Hibs makes it extra special,” he said. “The most important thing is that we got the three points and hopefully we can kick-on from here.
“Of course we deserved the victory, we have lost games this season that we haven’t deserved to lose.
“But we have been consistent, we have worked hard and we deserved this win and now we need to push on from this.
“We spoke about cutting out the mistakes and if we didn’t make those mistakes then we’d be further up the league.
“Sometimes you just need one win and that’s it. In comparison to how we started last season, everyone expected so much.
“You know football. Sometimes it does not happen for one reason or another. It is a massive win like I said and hopefully we can kick on.
“I’m just glad that the gaffer has given me the opportunity to get back out there and play games as I know if I’m out there then I’ll score goals.
“I’m just a part of the team and there are eleven players on the pitch and I am a part of that.
“This was a team performance and the lads did well. I love scoring goals, it’s sweeter because we won the game.”
