Uche Ikpeazu is refusing to get carried away with the start Hearts have made to the 2018/19 but insists the Jambos will continue to work hard to maintain the high standards that have been set.
Two wins from two sees the men in maroon top the Ladbrokes Premiership, while an unbeaten Betfred Cup group stage campaign has set up tomorrow’s second-round clash with Dunfermline Athletic.
The big striker, who has bagged three goals so far this season, says confidence is high in the camp, especially after last week’s win over Celtic, but has reiterated that he and his teammates won’t take anything for granted.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Uche said: “Everyone’s happy. Obviously, we’ve had a good start to the season.
“We’ve won two games in the league and we’ve qualified from the (Betfred Cup) group, and we’ve beaten the Scottish champions as well.
“Confidence is high but we’ve got to keep our feet on the ground and go on to the next game.
“We’ve set the bar and we’ve got to work at that level. You’ve got to work hard.
“Hard work is the minimum requirement. There are millions of people who would love to be in the position that we’re in so you can’t take it for granted. That’s always been embedded in me from a very young age.
“The team is playing really well at the moment. Once the confidence is high then things start happening for you.
“I think that team is playing to my strengths as well; getting the ball into me where I can be effective.
“We’re happy with how we’re doing but we just have to keep going.”
