U20s lose at St Mirren

29th March 2017

Hearts U20s narrowly beaten by St Mirren.

Hearts U20s were edged out 2-1 by St Mirren yesterday.

Ally Roy had given the Wee Jambos the lead in the Development League encounter at New Western Park before goals from Nathan Flanagan and Ben Gordon gave the Buddies the win.

Both sides entered the second-half goalless, thanks in part to some fine saves from Paul Gallacher in the Hearts goal.

Jon Daly’s side impressed after the restart and took the lead when Roy netted from close range after getting on the end of Callumn Morrison’s cross in the 58th minute.

The hosts battled back though and ex-Hearts youngster Flanagan equalised on 74 minutes courtesy of a 25-yard free-kick.

Three minutes from time, St Mirren bagged the winner when Gordon headed home from a corner.

Hearts: Gallacher, Brandon, Jones, K. Smith (Irving, 23’), Reid, Morrison, Petkov, Paton, Moore, Leonard, Roy. Subs: Mason, Akers, Baxter.
