U20s draw with Dee

22nd August 2017

Dario Zanatta earns Hearts U20s a point against Dundee U20s last night.

Hearts U20s opened their Development League campaign with a 1-1 draw at home to Dundee U20s last night.

Dario Zanatta’s strike two minutes before half-time bagged the Jambos a point after Matty Henvey’s early goal had given the visitors the lead.

U20s coach Andy Kirk was able to hand a debut to recent signing Bartlomiej Gajda as the Wee Jambos kicked off their league season at Ochilview.

The young Dees got their noses in front after four minutes courtesy of Henvey but Hearts nearly equalised in the 40th minute when an Andy Irving effort came back off the crossbar.

Three minutes later the home side drew level. Rory Currie’s build up play set up Zanatta who scored to level proceedings.

Hearts had Kelby Mason to thank for a great save late on to keep the score at 1-1, giving the Wee Jambos a point on opening day.

Next up for Kirk’s side is the Wee Derby against Hibernian next Tuesday.
