U20s beat Dundee

15th March 2017

Wee Jambos beat Dundee 2-1 on Tuesday night.

Dylan Bikey grabbed the winner for Hearts U20s in Tuesday night's Development League match against Dundee.

The fixture, played in Montrose, was delayed by 45 minutes due to the temporary closure of the Forth Road Bridge. Once it eventually kicked off, Callumn Morrison duly gave the Jambos the lead on 25 minutes. The winger drilled home a Jamie Brandon cross from 14 yards out to put Jon Daly's side ahead in a first half where they enjoyed the bulk of possession.

The second half saw an improved Dundee performance, perhaps aided by the strong wind in their backs, and the hosts duly pulled level on 51 minutes. Mark Smith converted from close range after Hearts 'keeper Paul Gallacher had saved brilliantly to deny an Ian Smith header.

Gallacher made a few more fine stops before Hearts eventually turned it up a gear and finished the stronger side. A couple of chances were missed before Bikey slotted in the winner following a one-two with Ally Roy on 75 minutes.

Roy almost added a third 60 seconds later but his effort came crashing off the crossbar.

Hearts: Gallacher; Brandon, Hamilton (C), Jones, Reid, Morrison, Paton (Leonard 68), Petkov, Irving, Roy, Bikey. Subs not used: Baxter, Smith (K), Akers.
