Michael Smith has signed a contract extension which will keep him at Hearts until May 2021.
The Northern Ireland international’s original deal was due to expire after the current season but he will now remain at Tynecastle for a further two years.
The 30-year-old has been in excellent form during the first half of the 2018/19 campaign and has established himself as a key member of Craig Levein’s squad. Having joined the club in June 2017, he has gone on to make a total of 63 competitive appearances to date.
Speaking to heartsfc.co.uk, Manager Craig Levein expressed his delight at Michael’s decision to commit his long-term future to the Jambos.
“I believe Michael has improved as a player since joining the club, which is reflected by the fact he has earned several international caps for Northern Ireland during his time here.
“Michael’s performances this season speak for themselves. He’s been playing to a very high level week in, week out and I am delighted that he has committed his future to Hearts until 2021.”
