Craig Levein believes his players are feeling good about themselves after Sunday’s win over Livingston made it three victories on the bounce.
Sean Clare’s second-half strike booked Hearts’ place in the next round of the Scottish Cup, making it three wins and three cleansheets in the process.
The manager thinks confidence is rife in the camp as the Jambos prepare to host Dundee tomorrow night at Tynecastle Park.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Craig said: “Confidence is a big thing.
“It wasn’t a fantastic match on Sunday but we won and we progressed to the next round of the cup and that helps the players feel good about themselves.
“When they feel good about themselves they play better.
“I’m looking forward to the game tomorrow night. I don’t think it’ll be easy in any way but I feel better that we’re in better form.
“Sometimes you can start a slide and it doesn’t halt. The good thing is that we’ve managed to turn things back around with three games without losing a goal.”
With new arrivals and players returning from injury, Craig has seen his squad bolstered.
One such player on course to make a comeback is John Souttar. Out injured since
October, the gaffer revealed he could play some part against The Dee on Wednesday night.
“I don’t know if John will start,” he said. “I’m going to wait to see him this morning because I was toying with the idea of putting him on the bench on Sunday but his hamstrings are a bit tight as a consequence of being out for so long.
“Sometimes other things start to feel sore when you’ve been in full training so I was just a wee bit careful on Sunday.
“I’ll see how he is today. He’ll be in the squad, I think. Whether he gets on the bench depends on how he feels.”
