SWit: 'Women Do Cyber' Programme

16th March 2022

Scotland Women in Technology (SWiT), Hearts Women’s front of shirt sponsor, are excited to announce a new partnership with Cisco and Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) to deliver a fully-funded ‘Women do Cyber’ programme.

This is a first-of-its-kind programme in Scotland, starting on the 2nd May 2022, with full industry-recognised Cisco accreditations, where the female students will be mentored by Cisco industry professionals to inject depth of knowledge in a practical sense and increase confidence in the students learning.

This female-designed cyber training programme delivered by GCU, using the intuitive Cisco Networking Academy online platform, is accessible and self-paced.

SWiT are aware of the barriers to entry that women face when undertaking study programmes and have designed ‘Women do Cyber’ to increase the much-needed diversity in this area as noted in the Skillsoft 2021 Women in Tech Report.

Accessibility to enroll in this programme comes from the ability for females to work in their current day jobs whilst studying, generating support from employers, and the support to obtain access to technical equipment. Mentoring and support will be provided to help students through the modules and successfully achieve those accreditations.

Having a blend of learning to allow students to tap into virtual teaching classrooms from anywhere, combined with recorded lessons and access to teaching support, really makes this course easier to commit to and an enjoyable learning experience, thus limiting the usual pressures of full-time study.
