Stephen Kingsley says he signed a new deal with Hearts because he’s committed to seeing Robbie Neilson's long-term project through.
The full-back today penned an 18-month contract extension which will keep him at Tynecastle Park until the summer of 2022.
26-year-old Stephen revealed at this afternoon’s pre-match press conference how well he’s settled into life at Hearts and how being part of the manager’s plans for the future convinced him to extend his stay in Gorgie.
“To be honest I’ve just been really enjoying my time (at Hearts),” he said. “I’ve said that before in press conferences and interviews that I’ve done previously.
“I’ve just really enjoyed my time here. I’m settled here with my family and with this whole pandemic continuing on, it’s nice to have a base to be settled down back home and have family around me.
“With me enjoying the football it just seemed like a good fit. I’m looking forward to finishing off this season and pushing on to next season, and continuing the project that Robbie Neilson has got going on here.
“After signing this I’m really looking forward to kicking on and continuing that project, and trying to not just get Hearts back to where they should be – by that I don’t mean the top flight - I mean the top end of that league.
“That’s the project the club wants to get to and if I can help that then that would be brilliant.”
