John Souttar is relishing the run in as Hearts prepare for the final pre-split Ladbrokes Premiership games ahead of next week’s semi final.
A huge two weeks for the club sees the Jambos travel to Ibrox to face Rangers on Wednesday night before hosting Hibs on Saturday in the Edinburgh derby.
The men in maroon then make the journey to Hampden next Saturday to take on Inverness Caledonian Thistle, with a place in the William Hill Scottish Cup Final at stake.
Confidence in the camp is high after last weekend’s thrilling win over Aberdeen, and Scotland international Souttar has revealed the boys knew how it important it was to get maximum points heading into the business end of the campaign.
“It was a great game to be involved in, it had everything,” he said. “It was end to end and two good sides going at each other.
“When there’s so much at stake, people get heated and there was a bit of fire on the pitch on Saturday.
“We knew before the game how big it was, we were on the back foot a lot in the first half and we showed a lot of character in the second half to turn it around.
“It’s the first time since I’ve joined that we’ve been playing for something at the end of the season.
“This club should be playing in semi-finals and finals and competing for trophies.”
