Soufian El Hassnaoui has conceded Hearts fans will have to wait until next season before they see the best of him.
The Moroccan forward has struggled for fitness during an injury-hit campaign, but admits his return to the side has given him a boost to take into next season.
El Hassnaoui scored his fourth goal of the season in Saturday’s win over Raith Rovers, and after the game, explained how important it was for him to be playing 90 minutes.
“Every minute I play right now is good for me,” said El Hassnaoui. “I’ve had a hard time with injuries, and more game time helps, but goals are nice too.”
“The fans have had to wait too long to see the best of me. I’ve worked hard to get back, but I believe in good endings for hard work.”
With two games remaining in this season, Soufian has aimed to play 90 minutes in both games and then go on a deserved holiday before starting off fresh in pre-season.
“I have two more games I want to play, and then I’ll go on holiday,” stated Soufian. “The holiday will be good for me physically and mentally.
“Then I can start with a clean slate next season, and get fit so I can start playing my best football. Once I get more fitness, I’ll contribute more goals and play in dangerous areas.
“Right now, my focus is to get 90 minutes. I was struggling late in the game today, I’m still not fit enough, but I will be.”
Finally, Soufian was asked if Hearts fans had seen anywhere near the best he has to offer as a player this season. The striker was assured and confident in his response.
“No, definitely not. There’s a lot more to come, wait and see.”
