Seven sign pro contracts

18th June 2021

Seven of Hearts’ brightest young talents have signed professional contracts.

The academy graduates have all penned their first pro deals and will partake in the 2021/22 season as professional footballers.

Finlay Pollock, who made his first team debut last season, Callum Hambrook, Bailey Dall, Ethan Drysdale, Macaulay Tait, Luke Rathie and Liam McFarlane all make the step up to John Rankin’s Under 18s side, with Macaulay and Ethan joining up once they turn 16.

Speaking to the Official Hearts Website after the starlets signed their contracts, manager Robbie Neilson said: “It’s a big moment for the lads and they should be very proud that they’ve got to this point.

“They’ve come in to sign with their families and it’s special for all of them.

“It’s an old cliché but the hard work starts now. They’ve got the chance to impress during pre-season and stake a claim for being involved in the first team, because ultimately that’s where we want them to be.

Sporting Director Joe Savage said: “To have such a large number of talented players sign professional contracts is great news for the club.

“We want to bring young players through the academy and have them make an impact at the highest level.

“These players have made it this far and now their journey starts afresh. I hope that the fans will soon get to see them pull on the maroon jersey at Tynecastle Park.”
