Rossi targets clean sheet

Igor Rossi is targeting a clean sheet tomorrow afternoon as Hearts look to return to winning ways against St Johnstone.

The Jambos have lost twice to the Saints this season despite having dominated both games for large periods. The Brazilian centre-back is now aiming to keep it tight at the back after expressing his disappointment at conceding three goals at Inverness last weekend.

Speaking to the press ahead of tomorrow’s showdown with the Perth side, Igor said:

“Yes, the last game was disappointing because we could have had three points. We scored three goals but we got a point, which isn’t bad after going down 2-0 and then coming back again when 3-2 down.

“Of course it’s disappointing when you lose three goals but that’s football.

“We’re motivated to get things right against St Johnstone. They’re level on points with us, they’re a good team and it’s important we don’t lose any goals against them. It’s a very important game for us.”

This season has seen Igor form a central defensive partnership with John Souttar and the former Maritimo player is convinced he is playing alongside a future Scotland star.

“Souttar is a good guy and a good defender. He’s still a young boy but he works very hard.

“Every day after training he talks to me and wants to do extra work on specific things, which is very important.

“He’s always wanting to improve and learn more and I like how he does extra training to work on things.

“I think he can play for Scotland, of course. I look at other centre backs in Scotland and I think he is one of the best.

"He is young but with more experience he will become even better.”
