Robbo's management return

14th June 2017

John Robertson leaves Hearts to become new ICT manager.

Heart of Midlothian Football Club can today confirm John Robertson’s departure to take up the post of Manager at Inverness Caledonian Thistle Football Club.

The legendary striker has penned a two-year deal at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium, which begins with immediate effect.

Hearts’ record league goal scorer, Robbo returned to the Jambos in 2014 having both played for and managed the club in a career that spanned 18-years at Tynecastle.

As Head of Coach Education, his primary role was working with Director of Football Craig Levein and Academy Director Roger Arnott to develop the club’s coaches at the Hearts Academy, passing on his experience as a player and a coach.

John has also been working with the SFA over the last few years, mentoring those ex-players and up-and-coming coaches taking their A and B Coaching Badges. In addition to this, he has taken in an inordinate amount of football across the country, on behalf of the club and previously while working for the BBC.

Coupled with helping to make the club’s commercial operations a resounding success over the past three years, and serving as the club’s ambassador to McCrae’s Battalion Trust, Robbo made a success of every avenue he explored, yet never hid his desire to one day return to the dugout.

Club owner Ann Budge said: “Everyone at Heart of Midlothian would like to congratulate Robbo on his return to management, offer him its sincerest thanks for playing his part in the club’s revival, and wish him and his new club every success with their Championship campaign.”
