Robbie's delight for international Jambos

21st March 2022

Robbie Neilson hailed Craig Halkett as a "crucial" part of the club's success this season, after he received his first call up to the Scotland squad.

Steve Clarke's men face Poland at Hampden on March 24th in a friendly, before travelling five days later to face the loser of the Wales v Austria World Cup play-off semi-final.

Halks is set to link up with teammate Craig Gordon in Clarke's camp, with a number of other Hearts players also called up to their respective international sides.

The manager reckons it reflects well on the club - speaking of his delight at the platform Hearts are able to offer to players wanting to represent their country.

"It’s great news that Craig has been rewarded for his excellent form with a call up to the Scotland squad," Robbie told heartsfc.co.uk

"He’s obviously a talented player but I think he’s really come on leaps and bounds this season and he’s been a crucial part of the team’s success so far. I know that it’s a proud moment for Craig and it’s a proud moment for the club as a whole.

"We now have a number of players who have gained international recognition this season and that shows that the platform exists at Hearts for the players to showcase their talents, help the club and ultimately help themselves."
