Robbie Neilson has told his players to hold on to top spot after today’s victory over Greenock Morton sent the Jambos to the summit of the Championship table.
Goals in either half from Jamie Walker were enough to take all three points from Cappielow in a match the men in maroon controlled from start to finish.
The manager had special words of praise for the double-goalscorer, and others, as he spoke of his desire to stay at the top of the league.
“That’s where we want to be and we want to stay there,” he said. “We’ve had a really good start to the season, we’ve won five out of six and we’re sitting on 15 points at the top of the league so we’re looking to stay there.
“Jamie’ s top player. He started the season in the Betfred very well then he had a niggle, came out of the team and he’s been getting his fitness back.
“It was great to have Naismith and Walker in there as they gave as wee bit of quality.
“Andy Irving made a big difference. He’s got great passing ability and I was really pleased with him.
“Coming down here, you know what the pitch and the physicality is going to be like but Andy handled it really well.”
