Robbie Neilson reckons Hearts can’t look any further ahead than Sunday afternoon, as the boys in maroon gear up for a trip to Tannadice.
With third place and guaranteed European football sewn up for the JTs, it would be easy for Hearts to coast to the finish line with a cup final against Rangers to look forward to.
The manager insisted though that the Jambos need to keep up the sparkling form that saw them romp to third – saying he wants to round off the league season with a bang.
“We’re looking forward to the cup final, but we’ve got five huge games before that starting with Tannadice,” he told the media ahead of our Tayside trip.
“We’ve already secured that third position, but we want to try and push as far ahead as we can. Hampden is something to look forward to, but we need to focus on the task at hand.
“We’re going into Dundee United trying to win the game. We’ve got a few injuries, but with the guys available – we’ll put the strongest team out and continue the good form we’ve had throughout the season.”
Robbie also provided an update on squad fitness.
“Halkett went to see a specialist last week, he’ll see another one today and then we’ll get a final assessment. Both him and me are hopeful but it depends on what the specialist says,” he explained.
“Andy Halliday has been carrying the same knock for a few weeks now, so we’ll have a look at him and make a decision nearer the time. Kingsley is the same, it’s a question of whether we keep pushing him or take him out and give his problem time to settle.”
