Robbie Neilson insists absolutely nothing will be taken for granted as his players prepare for life back in the top flight.
The Jambos host St Johnstone on the opening day of the Ladbrokes Premiership season. The Championship winners then travel to Dens Park to play Dundee before returning to Tynecastle to face Motherwell.
Head coach Robbie knows every game will be tough one, and he’s told his players to go out and earn their victories.
Speaking to Hearts News, he said: “You’ve got to remember that we’re a Championship team who have been promoted and playing against three established Premiership clubs.
“We need to make sure that we prepare properly for them and try and get the victories. We won’t take anything for granted against these teams. We must make sure that we earn our three points.”
Focusing on the visit of the Perth Saints, Robbie believes that their involvement in the Europa League will provide his players with another obstacle to overcome.
“St Johnstone’s involvement in the Europa League adds a different dimension to it,” he said. “They’ll have had a few games so it’s important that we prepare ourselves properly and that we play the game at a good tempo.
“If we have a good work-rate then I’m sure we’ll be ready for them.”
The August 1 clash will see the Jambos unfurl the Championship flag at Tynecastle and Robbie is already looking forward to the occasion.
“We knew we were going to get a home fixture because we won the Championship last year so we get the flag presented to us,” he stated. “I’m sure it’ll be a great day. Hopefully we’ll get a full house and hopefully we’ll get the victory as well that can set us off for a good start to the season.”
