Robbie ready for players' return

28th July 2020

Robbie Neilson will welcome his players back for pre-season training next week as the club’s focus shifts towards returning to the top flight.

The first team squad will regroup at Hearts’ training base at Oriam for the first time since March, with an eight-week pre-season schedule ahead of them in preparation for the 2020/21 campaign.

Strict Covid-19 protocols will be in place which includes twice weekly testing, and the boys can look forward to fitness tests upon their return, swiftly followed by training sessions and gym work.

The manager is looking forward to working with his squad as everyone gears up for an October return to action.

Speaking to the Official Hearts Website, Robbie said: “I’m delighted that we’re now on the verge of returning to training.

“A lot of hard work has gone into preparing for every outcome of the arbitration process, but now that is over we can fully focus on getting everyone back in, get them fit and be in a position to start winning games of football.

“I’m looking forward to getting to know the players and working with them. There are some big talents in there and we need to all be pulling in the same direction, which I know we will.

“There is a lot to be excited about this season. Not getting to play in front of our fans is blow but it’ll be all the sweeter when we get to run out in front of them once its safe for everyone to return to stadiums.

“For the next eight-weeks it’s about working hard and being in the best shape possible come October.”

Note to supporters: Due to the current global pandemic, players and staff will not be able to come into contact with anyone from outside the club, and therefore cannot pose for photographs or sign autographs/merchandise. With strict Covid-19 regulations in place, fans are kindly asked to not to attend Oriam. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
