Robbie: Players trust in one another

4th November 2021

Robbie Neilson says his players will continue to trust in each other as they look to get back to winning ways on Saturday against Dundee United.

The Jambos’ long unbeaten cinch Premiership run came to an end last week with defeat at Aberdeen, a first in 12 games.

The manager acknowledged that a sub-par second half was the deciding factor in the Pittodrie loss but he believes that his side will stay true to their style of play and learn from their mistakes as they prepare to welcome another in-form team in Dundee United to Tynecastle this weekend.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, he said: “We had a poor 45 minutes last week. First half we probably weren’t quite at the levels we get to but we were still pretty comfortable going in 1-0, then we had a poor 45 minutes.

“We’ve spoken about that and how we adapt to certain games and they way that the game’s getting played. It’s still a young group that we’ve got here. They’ve got to learn, they’ve got to realise that there is going to be difficult weeks so how do we find ways to get through that.

"We do that hopefully by winning on Saturday. We have to stick to the way that we want to play. We’ve got a way of playing, we’ve got players here we brought in to play that way.

“We spoke about trusting in what we’re doing, what they’re doing and continuing to do it, and just getting better at it.

“They (Dundee United) have started very well. They look really strong defensively, really good at set plays with Edwards and Mulgrew’s delivery, so we know it’s going to be a tough game.

"They’re on a decent run of form, although they got beat last week by St Johnstone.

“They’re sitting joint third in the league with us so we know they’re a good team. I know a number of players in there as well and I know the quality they’ve got.”
