Robbie Neilson was delighted to see his side pick up their third win of the week as they beat Partick Thistle 1-0 on Saturday.
Arnaud Djoum's first-half strike proved decisive in a closely-fought game at Tynecastle, one which saw the home side keep yet another clean sheet. Speaking to the press post-match, Robbie said:
“I thought we played alright and probably deserved the win. We were pretty much in control in the first half, but it’s always difficult when you don’t get that second goal.
“But it’s three wins and three clean sheets this week, so I’m pleased with where we are.”
The Head Coach was particularly happy with his team’s defensive performance, with youngsters Liam Smith and John Souttar impressing once again.
“We’ve got a young back-four if you take Rossi out of the equation. Liam Smith’s 19, Souttar’s 19 and Ozturk’s 23, but I thought they stood up to the physicality very well.
“Smith does exactly what I expect him to do and I felt this week was a good opportunity for him to get his chance.”
Robbie also took time to praise midfield duo Djoum and Don Cowie, with the latter receiving the sponsor’s man of the match award.
“We were lucky to get Djoum, he was at Lech Poznan last year and the Turkish top flight before that. He came in on a short-term deal but we’ve managed to extend it.
“Cowie’s been great for us too, he’s a Scottish international with Premier League experience. He brings a lot to the club, not only on the pitch but also in the dressing room. I’m really pleased with him.”
