Robbie Neilson has called on his players to use their defeat to Hamilton back in August as motivation ahead of Sunday’s clash at New Douglas Park.
A controversial Callum Paterson red card stole the headlines that day as Hearts suffered their first defeat of the season, but the Head Coach is now hoping he’ll be celebrating three points come full-time on Sunday.
Speaking to Hearts TV on Friday, Robbie said:
“We had a disappointing result there last time and we’ll definitely use that game as motivation for the players on Sunday. We want to go and win these types of games and it’s up to us to prove that we can.
“It was pleasing to see six different players on the scoreboard against Motherwell. It clicked for us last week and hopefully it’ll continue on Sunday.”
Hearts have no fresh injury concerns ahead of their clash with the Accies and Robbie revealed Sam Nicholson could be in contention for a return to action. Jamie Walker, meanwhile, continues his recovery from injury and has come through a week’s training unscathed.
“The game against Inverness next weekend is a realistic goal for Jamie. He’s trained all week and we’ll look to play him with the U20s next week, so if he comes through that he’ll be in contention for Inverness,” Robbie explained.
