After a hard fought victory last season, The Hearts Legends will again face the Army in an eagerly awaited re-match on Saturday 24th March.
The game will help raise funds for the Soldiers' Charity and the army team will feature players recruited from across all Garrisons. Hearts Legends, operating a strict over-35 policy, are unbeaten since their inception and have helped raise £130,000 for good causes to date. They are expected to include Captain Jimmy Sandison, Gary Locke, Scott Severin, Alan Lawrence and Alan McLaren in their line up.
Hearts' Head of Community Alan White manages the Hearts Legend side and is looking forward to a tough challenge: "Last year the army lads gave us a real run for our money - our boys had to do a bit more running than they are used too!"
"Everyone knows the significance of our relationship with the army and we are delighted to have secured this game for the Legends.
"The Soldiers' Charity do a fantastic job and we encourage as many fans as possible to come along and cheer on both sides in aid of a fantastic cause."
After the match The Soldiers' Charity will host an exclusive charity dinner in the Mess at Redford Barrracks. This is a very rare and special opportunity to see 'behind the scenes' and hear from legends. This will be a celebration of great football and seldom seen 'military magic' rolled into one.
The Army’s National charity since 1944 - helps all soldiers, veterans and their dependants, who are in need, whatever that need may be. In 2015/16 the total national charitable expenditure was over £8.4m, including grants to nearly 5000 individuals and 88 charities which delivered support on behalf of the Charity and the Army at large.
The Match, 24th March:
Doors will open at Oriam Performance Centre at 3:30pm, with a 4pm kick-off. Entry will be non-ticketed with a bucket collection in aid of The Soldiers' Charity.
