Sean Clare hopes getting a pre-season under his belt will see both him and the team reap the rewards heading into the new season.
The Jambos’ no. 8 arrived in Gorgie back in September last year and, after rehabbing following surgery, missed pre-season.
He would go on to bag six goals during his debut campaign and now, after getting into the thick of the action over in Dublin at the team’s training camp, the 22-year-old believes he can make an even bigger impact in season 2019/20.
Speaking to HeartsTV, Sean said: “I’m enjoying it. It’s hard work but it’s stuff that we need.
“We’re working on our fitness and also on things that will help us out in the season. This is my job and it’s something that I enjoy doing.
“It’s definitely been tough, especially the first few days, but we’re all into it now and we’re all at a good level of fitness. It’s just about getting it as high as you can.
“For anyone who doesn’t have a pre-season you’re playing a bit of catch up throughout the season.
“It’s difficult because you have to do a lot of extra stuff and that can sometimes put you out of the tactical stuff.
“It’s definitely good to get one under my belt this season and I’ll hopefully be able to kick on.”
