Olly Lee says he’s proud to be a Hearts player and pull on the famous maroon jersey every week.
The midfielder, a summer arrival following the expiration of his contract at Luton Town, has adapted quickly to his new surroundings, scoring against Cove Rangers in the Betfred Cup and bagging two assists last week in the 5-0 rout over Inverness CT.
He believes there is much more to come and hopes his displays can send the Hearts support home happy each week.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Olly said: “There is a bigger spotlight up here. It’s massive.
“You’re playing for a capital team and I’m representing Edinburgh, effectively.
“That means a lot to me and I’m very proud of that. I’m proud to be a Hearts player.
“Hopefully my performance on the pitch can make the fans proud as well.
“No, I’ve definitely not hit the ground running. It’s still early days.
“There is a lot more to come from me.
“I’m pleased with how I’ve started but there is still loads and loads to come from me, so I’m looking forward to that coming out.”
The Jambos head to Hamilton Accies tomorrow for the opening game of the 2018/19 Ladbrokes Premiership campaign.
The match will be played on Accies’ plastic pitch and while some may be put off by the surface, Olly has revealed he and his team-mates would play on anything put in front of them.
“I’ve heard a few stories about the pitch and it’s an astro-turf pitch, obviously, but we’re used to that now,” he said. “We’ve played a few Betfred Cup games on that so there are no excuses.
“It’s not ideal but we deal with it. We can play on anything.
“We can play on a car park if we need to, that’s just what you need to play in front of. It’s no problem for us.”
