21st May 2020

Steven Naismith has been nominated for a Scottish Football Writers’ Association award.

The Jambos’ skipper has been named in the international player of the year category, following a Scotland campaign that saw him reach 50 caps and the hall of fame.

He captained the national team against Cyprus, when he won his 50th cap, and again in their last outing, scoring in a 3-1 win over Kazakhstan.

Also included in the nominations are Celtic’s Callum McGregor and Ryan Christie, and Aston Villa’s John McGinn.
