Craig Levein explained that he wants to give everyone in his squad game time ahead of Wednesday's clash against Stenhousemuir.
The Jambos have looked good value in their first two Betfred Cup fixtures and the gaffer made six changes for last week's trip to Cowdenbeath.
"We played Cambridge on Saturday and I gave some of the boys, who hadn't been involved up to now, some game time so that was good.
"We'll make some changes again for this match against Stenhousemuir and I'm hoping to try and work it so that everybody feels good to go, come the first league game."
The manager has been happy with his team's dominating performances in both matches, although admitted they needed to become more ruthless up front.
"We've been good. We've played well in both matches in fairly long spells. We've created an awful lot of chances - we haven't taken as many as we would like, of course, but that's something we can work on in training.
"It's a very short time between coming back and playing our first competitive match but I've been relatively happy with the way things have gone so far."
He also provided some team news ahead of the Tynecastle encounter.
"Conor Washington's back's a bit tight, so is Harry Cochrane's. That's why they weren't involved at the weekend - it's not a major problem - and I don't know if either of them will be fit to play on Wednesday. But I'm sure if they don't play on Wednesday they will be fit to play at the weekend."
