McKay wants to give back to fans

5th November 2021

Barrie McKay knows the importance of Saturday’s game with Dundee United and wants to win three points to give something back to the fans.

The Jambos host United in a third vs fourth encounter with both sides looking to bounce back from defeat last week.

With only one loss in 12, Barrie believes the men in maroon could have turned some draws into victories but the fact that they are playing well and creating chances leaves him confident that they can regain that scoring touch.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, he said: “It’s important that we win on Saturday. Some of the games that we’ve drawn we feel like its points dropped in that circumstance.

“It’s important that we give the fans three points as well. They’ve turned up in their numbers each week. Away from home as well, they’re bringing a lot and it’s important that we give it back to them.

“We just need to take those chances. It’s not like we’re going out there to miss them. We’re creating a lot of chances so I’d probably be more worried if we were playing really badly and not creating anything.

“The fact that we’re still creating stuff and playing really well is important. I think it’s just a little bit away from everything clicking and then we’ll be fine.

“If you want to achieve anything then you need to have everyone’s back and I think that’s what we’ve got here, from the staff to the players. Everyone trusts each other and that’s really important.”
