Hearts were held to a 1-1 draw by Greenock Morton today at Tynecastle Park.
Craig McGuffie had given the visitors the lead early in the second half before sub Jamie Walker stepped off the bench to grab his 50th goal for the Jam Tarts.
Hearts started at a high tempo with Aaron McEneff seeing lots of the ball in the early stages, and he came close to grabbing a first Jambos goal inside five minutes when Steven Naismith threaded a pass through the lines to the Irish midfielder, but Aidan McAdams got down well to save.
Two minutes later, Hearts had an even better chance to score when a McEneff corner was pushed back out to Mihai Popescu but the big Romanian blazed over the bar. Hearts continued to dominate and McEneff came close again soon after when his long range shot was pushed away.
Michael Smith and Andy Halliday were next to try their luck, Smith shooting wide from outside the area before a ball landed at Halliday from a clearance but he hooked a volley over the bar.
Liam Boyce was even closer to opening the scoring as Hearts continued to pin Morton back, with the Northern Irish forward flicking a ball over his head and onto the crossbar.
Morton did threaten briefly before the interval when Aidan Nesbitt firing in a cross that hit the bar, but they came flying out the traps in the second half.
A pass released McGuffie and he hammered a shot into the far corner beyond Craig Gordon who had been untroubled until that point.
Robbie Neilson then introduced Armand Gnanduillet and Walker, and the latter was involved right away when he volleyed a shot towards goal that McAdams parried.
The subs then combined when Gnanduillet hit the byline and fired in a cross that Walker met with a superb header into the top corner.
Hearts were well on top but struggled to create a clear chance, with a ricochet on Gnanduillet going just past the post as time ran out.
