Kingsley keen to keep on progressing

27th October 2021

Stephen Kingsley says Hearts won’t be resting on their laurels despite the unbeaten start to the season as they prepare to face St Johnstone this evening.

The Jambos make the trip to McDiarmid Park, having won five and drawing five of their opening 10 cinch Premiership games, which leaves them second in the table.

The defender knows tonight will be another tough encounter but he states that he and his teammates are constantly searching for improvement.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Stephen said: “It breeds confidence when you’re picking up these points. I think we should’ve picked up more points in the couple of games that we’ve drawn but it wasn’t to be.

“It’s still been a very good start to the season but that’s all it is, a start. That’s why we can’t keep looking at what we’ve done so far, it needs to be looking forward and progressing, and not being too happy with what we’ve done.

“Obviously we are pleased but it’s just the start. It’s important that we keep striving to become better and better.

“The confidence is there just now. We’re heading into every game looking to pick up three points, no matter who it’s against. Obviously there is going to be no easy games. It’s up to us to find a way to beat these teams.”
