Robbie Neilson knows pre-season games are all about building up fitness but that doesn’t dilute his desire to win every match Hearts play.
The Jambos ran out 2-0 winners over Raith Rovers at Stark’s Park last night to make it three friendly victories out of three.
The head coach was happy with what he saw in Kirkcaldy and has told his team to continue to doing what they’re doing.
Speaking to HeartsTV at full-time, he said: “I was pleased with it. It was a good performance from us. I thought it was a good game, both teams tried to play football and moved the ball well. It was a good workout.
“We spoke about it before the game. Yes, we want to get our fitness but we also want to win the game. Football’s about winning games and we wanted to come here and win.
“We won here last season and we wanted to continue that. It’s the same when we play on Thursday night against Dumbarton. We’ll have a young team there but there’s a few older ones coming down as well.
“But we want to win it, and we want to go up to Oban and win that as well.”
