James Keatings has revealed that as soon as he knew Hearts were interested in him, he was only ever going to end up at Tynecastle.
The former Hamilton hitman became Robbie Neilson's second signing of the summer and he insisted that he couldn't turn down the lure of pulling on a maroon shirt.
Speaking to HeartsTV, James said, "I'm delighted to have signed during the close season and I'm buzzing to get underway. I'm just really, really happy.
"It didn't take a lot of persuasion for me to come onboard. As soon as my agent called me I was on my way really. I had made my decision in my head straight-away. I was delighted to drive up the road and sign the papers.
"The size of the club and the opportunity is massive. The last couple of years at the club have been disappointing for everyone here but now we're on the up. For a club this size it was just an opportunity I couldn't turn down."
James' first outing at home will be on July 18 in the Main Stand centenary match against English Premier League champions Manchester City, and he can't wait to test himself against some of the best players on the planet.
"I was on holiday when I got told that we were playing Manchester City," he said. "It's very exciting to be playing against top quality players, the best in the world. It's something that I'm really looking forward.
"It's the kind of things you look forward to in football, coming up against the best players in the world, and playing in front of full stadiums. I've been at Tynecastle before and played and the atmosphere was amazing. I'm sure it'll be just the same this season and hopefully the fans can get right behind us.
"I'm looking forward to the fans cheering for me and not against me this time!"
