Jon wants reaction

Interim head coach Jon Daly wants a reaction from his players when Hearts take on Celtic on Saturday.

Jon Daly says he’s looking for a reaction from his players when Hearts kick-off their Ladbrokes Premiership season at Celtic Park on Saturday.

The interim head coach will take charge of the first-team against Celtic, supported by assistant head coach Austin MacPhee and first-team coach Liam Fox, after the departure of Ian Cathro, and he thinks the team can hit the ground running by getting back to enjoying their football.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference today, Jon said: “I just need to focus on making sure the boys are ready to go for the weekend and ready to hit the ground running, because we obviously know it’s not been a good place.

“We need to get them back enjoying their football. First and foremost, being a player myself I know what players respond to, so we’ve tried to make training enjoyable, we’ve tried to make it fun, we’ve tried to simplify it.

“If we can get a reaction and get them working hard, that’s first and foremost what I’m looking for.

“I’m looking for a reaction, I’m looking for every single player that pulls on the jersey at the weekend giving everything they’ve got, running their race and once they’ve done that we have boys on the bench who can do the same thing.”

Jon’s press conference is available to watch in full on HeartsTV.
