Jon Daly believes the onus is on Hearts to dodge a potential banana skin when Auchinleck Talbot visit Tynecastle next month.
The Jambos set up a 5th Round William Hill Scottish Cup tie with the Junior side after seeing off Livingston 1-0 yesterday, thanks to Sean Clare’s excellent second-half strike.
The men in maroon will resume rivalries with Auchinleck, who knocked out Championship high-flyers Ayr United on Saturday, having faced the Junior giants back in 2012.
Hearts edged that encounter thanks to a late Gordon Smith goal en route to lifting the trophy, defeating city rivals Hibs 5-1 at Hampden.
Well aware of the threat The Bot will pose, first-team coach Jon insists the Jam Tarts will give the tie their full attention when the time comes.
“It’s a home game against lower league opposition, so that’s good, but we can’t take them lightly,” he said. “Look at the result they had against Ayr, who have been flying high in the Championship.
“We’ve got to take it seriously. For them, it’ll be a big day out.
“They have nothing to lose, so they can come out and show graft, and we have to stand up to it.
“We can’t afford to take it lightly.”
