Jake Mulraney admitted he was over the moon to sign his new contract, tying him to the Tynecastle club for a further three years.
The 24-year-old penned the deal through the week, and celebrated by whipping in the cross that would seal victory over Stenhousemuir in the Betfred Cup.
"[I'm] delighted," Jake said. "The gaffer mentioned it to me on the second day of pre-season, he came up to me and mentioned it, so it was just getting everything sorted and signed. Now it's finished, thank God."
It's no surprise that Craig Levein wanted to secure Jake's services long-term, given the form of the Dublin-born winger.
However, he wasn't always one of the first names on the team-sheet after he signed for the club last summer.
"Without sounding arrogant, I knew I had it in me to do well. I started off very slow, it took me a while to get going.
"It is a big club and I didn't really understand the size and the expectation that was to come with signing for Hearts.
"It took me a while to settle in and find a rhythm - it took me six or seven months really - but I'm just glad I am where I am now."
Now, the Irishman is preparing not just for the season ahead, but for another addition the Mulraney family.
"I found out in early January that I was going to be a dad. It's only eight weeks until the baby's here. Me and my girlfriend are still both young, on our own, over here... it makes you think.
"It's going to be me and her looking after a little baby. I'm really looking forward to it but it's a bit nerve-wracking as well!"
