Hearts Youth Development Committee (HYDC) have today announced that former Hearts first-team star John Colquhoun and British track and field sensation Eilidh Child have agreed to become it’s first ever ambassadors.
The popular duo, regulars on the Tynecastle scene, will play an active part in promoting the fantastic work done by HYDC in raising funds for Hearts’ Youth Academy.
HYDC Chairman Calum Robertson said: “I’m delighted that Eilidh and John have agreed to become HYDC’s first ever ambassadors.
“John is a fans favourite at Hearts thanks to his wonderful playing career here, and Hearts supporting Eilidh is a true star of the athletics world, so to have them both play an important part in helping to recognise the excellent work undertaken by HYDC is a magnificent coup.”
Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson said: “HYDC continue to play a crucial role in the ongoing development of the Hearts Academy and I’d like to thank everyone involved for all their hard work in 2015. Here’s to more success in 2016!”
Hearts Director of Football, Craig Levein, said: “I’m delighted to see Eilidh Child and John Colquhoun sign up as HYDC ambassadors. 2016 promises to be another exciting year for HYDC and the Hearts Academy.”
A special cake has been baked for the occasion, which will be handed over to Save the Children, who will then donate it to Balgreen Primary School.
