Hearts’ international players enjoyed mixed fortunes over the past few days in the latest round of World Cup Qualifiers.
Callum Paterson made a 79th minute substitute appearance, replacing Ikechi Anya at Wembley, in Scotland 3-0 defeat to England on Friday. Fellow Jambo Jack Hamilton was an unused substitute.
Teammates and countrymen John Souttar and Liam Smith didn’t fare much better for the U21 side as they crashed to a 4-0 loss in a friendly match in Slovakia on Wednesday. John captained the side while Liam played 71 minutes.
Arnaud Djoum’s Cameroon came from behind to draw 1-1 against Zambia in Yaounde. Arnaud was an unused substitute and the point moves The Indomitable Lions up to second in their World Cup Qualifying group, two points behind leaders Nigeria.
Morocco also drew in their World Cup Qualifying match against Ivory Coast in Marrakesh. Fayacl Rherras didn’t feature from the bench as the two sides played out a goalless draw, which leaves Morocco in second place in the group, two points behind Ivory Coast. Morocco are back in action tomorrow night in a friendly match against Togo.
