International Round-Up

9th September 2019

Conor Washington is in the frame to lead Northern Ireland’s attack tonight against Germany.

Michael O’Neill’s side top their Euro 2020 qualifying group and face the Germans at Windsor Park this evening.

Washington was left out of the 1-0 friendly win over Luxembourg last week but could return to the starting line up for tonight’s crunch qualifying game.

Steven Naismith, however, won't get the opportunity to win his 50th cap for Scotland this evening.

Naisy missed Scotland’s 2-1 home defeat to Russia last week and won't be involved when Belgium visit Hampden tonight after leaving the Scotland camp.

Glenn Whelan won his 88th Republic of Ireland cap in their 1-1 draw with Switzerland last week.

The result leaves Ireland top of their qualifying group, two points ahead of Denmark.

They face Bulgaria in a friendly match on Tuesday at the Aviva Stadium.

Bobby Burns’ Northern Ireland U21s were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Malta on Friday in a U21 Euro Qualifier.

They sit second in their group and need three points in Finland tomorrow night to be in with a shout of finishing as one of four best runners-up to make the play-offs.

Alex Petkov played 90 minutes and helped Bulgaria U21s to a 4-0 U21 Euro Qualifier win over Estonia.

The Bulgarians are fifth in their group and face Russia at home tomorrow night.

Meanwhile, Connor Smith and Cammy Logan have been called up to the Scotland U18s squad.

The Hearts pair will head to Turkey at the end of the month where Billy Stark’s side will compete in a tournament.
