First Team

In it to win it

Silverware high on head coach Robbie Neilson's agenda.

Robbie Neilson won't be taking Saturday's opponents Annan Athletic lightly as he wants to go all the way in this season's Petrofac Training Cup.

The Jambos, making their first ever appearance in the competition, host the League Two side this weekend and the Gorgie head coach is adamant that his team will approach the match in the right manner.

Speaking to the media today at the Hearts Football Academy, Robbie said: "Any cup at all, you want to win it. It's important that we go out and put on a good performance. It's our first competitive game of the season, it's at home, so we must make sure that we play properly, do the right things and progress it so we take it into league games.

"I'm very serious about taking cups properly. We must make sure that we play properly and put a strong team out.

"I've been to see Annan a couple of times and they're a good team. It's a big game for them. It's an opportunity for them to play at Tynecastle in front of a big crowd so we must make sure that we're prepared properly and hopefully progress to the next round.

"I'm looking forward to the match. It'll be good. It's an opportunity for us to play a competitive game. It's a good chance for the boys to play at Tynecastle again after the game against Manchester City last Friday."

Robbie's pre-match press conference is available to watch in full on HeartsTV.
