Ian wants top spot

25th July 2017

Ian Cathro looking for third win in a row and to take pole position in Betfred Cup group.

Ian Cathro has told his players to beat Peterhead this evening and grab pole position in their Betfred Cup group.

The Jambos face the Blue Toon at Balmoor Stadium tonight, and after winning their opening two games a further victory and three points would lift the men in maroon into first place ahead of this weekend’s final group stage game against Dunfermline.

When asked at his pre-match press conference if it was about winning games at this stage of the season, the head coach replied: “Entirely. I repeat again that we’re in competition. The season has started. We’ve played two games in the group and we’ve won both doing what we’ve had to do.

“This is our catch-up game, I suppose, on Dunfermline, so our attitude and approach is very, very simple. It’s just to go and win the game.

“After that, naturally, we want to play well, we want to be in control, we want to create chances, we want to correct some errors, we want to be stronger.

“These are all things that will carry on throughout the season but our priority is to go and win the game and put us into the leading position in the group for the final game this weekend.”

Ian's press conference is available to watch in full now on HeartsTV.
