Ian Cathro declared himself satisfied with Hearts' victory over Livingston on Saturday afternoon and is now looking forward to taking his team to a pre-season training camp in Ireland.
The Jambos defeated the League One champions 1-0 at the Tony Macaroni Arena thanks to a first half goal from debutant Cole Stockton.
Speaking after the match, the Head Coach said:
“I thought it was a reasonable game for us overall. It gives everyone a chance to get a bit of sharpness and get themselves adjusted to things again.
“It’s good for Cole to get on the scoresheet as well and I’m pleased for him.”
The game also saw Jordan McGhee return to action in a Hearts jersey following his loan spell at Middlesbrough and Ian is looking forward to working with him over the coming weeks and months.
“I’m only just getting to know him. I’ve seen some footage of him but I look forward to seeing more of him. It’s a fresh start for him and we’ll see how things develop.”
The Jambos fly out to Dublin on Monday for a week-long training camp where they’ll face St Patrick’s Athletic before heading north to Belfast for a clash with Linfield. Ian revealed he has a more or less fully fit squad to work with, although Liam Smith is struggling with an ankle knock and will be out for a couple of weeks.
Bjorn Johnsen, fresh from his return from international duty with Norway, is also carrying a knock and will stay behind in Edinburgh for conditioning work.
